Measure the Impact and Frequency of Volunteer Contributions

Bloomerang Volunteer helps you understand and quantify how your organization benefits from the generosity of your volunteers.

You can view:

  • Which volunteers are currently active and inactive, and since when
  • When volunteers were historically active or inactive
  • When volunteers first and last gave time
  • How many times volunteers gave time to an organization or opportunity
  • How many hours and minutes volunteers give on average
  • The monetary value of time contributions for all volunteers in an organization or opportunity
  • The contribution history of an individual volunteer in an organization or opportunity, including the monetary value of that volunteer’s time
  • Top volunteers in a ranked leaderboard

With this key data, you can:

  • Understand engagement and trends so you can make informed decisions
  • See how much money your organization saves thanks to volunteers who donate their time
  • Include relevant data in your grant submissions and year-end reporting
  • Create custom Staff Lists based on whether volunteers are active or inactive, and send personalized communication to those segments
  • Let your volunteers know how their time contributions make a difference

Time Contributions

Time contribution is the total number of times a volunteer gives their time to an organization. For example, Avery volunteered for 6 five-hour shifts, for a total of 30 hours. Avery’s time contribution is 6 because Avery volunteered 6 times.

You can see the number of times a volunteer contributed time to an organization or opportunity, how many hours they gave (total and average), and when they first and last gave. See Time Contributions data in the Staff List (columns, filters, and .CSV exports), dashboard analytics, and volunteer profiles.

Use time contribution data to understand giving frequency, engagement, and who is most likely to volunteer when.

Contribution Status (Active or Inactive)

The Active Contribution Status tells you which volunteers are active and inactive so you know who’s actively participating in your organization. Bloomerang Volunteer automatically assigns this status to volunteers based on a time period that you enter.

At the Organization level, you can see this status in the Staff List (columns, filters, and .CSV exports), reports, dashboard analytics, and volunteer profiles.

Use this data to understand engagement, keep an eye on trends, and customize communications for specific volunteer segments.

Tip: If your organization doesn’t track volunteer hours, we recommend that you start doing so to take advantage of the Active Contribution Status.

Monetary Value of Hours

You can set the monetary value of one volunteer hour. Bloomerang Volunteer uses this number to calculate how much money your organization saves thanks to volunteers who donate their time.

As the value of one hour changes, add more dates and values. Add historical values to capture data from earlier in your organization’s history. Add values for special dates, like holidays, when the value of time might be worth more.

All the values that you enter appear on line chart so you can see how the monetary value of one volunteer hour changes over time. You can also see Value of Hours data in the Staff List (columns, filters, and .CSV exports), reports, dashboard analytics, and volunteer profiles.

Include this data in impact reports and grant submissions to quantify the value of your volunteers.

Note: If your organization prefers not to track monetary value, you can turn this setting off.
