Self Check-In and Check-Out on the Attendance Kiosk

Use the Attendance Kiosk to make it easy for volunteers to check in and out of shifts and opportunities.

The Attendance Kiosk is a browser-based web application. You and your volunteers can go to kiosk.bloomerang.co to open the Kiosk on computers and mobile devices. It’s a convenient way to check in and out because volunteers don’t need to install an app and only have to enter their email address.

Tip: Volunteers can also install and use the Bloomerang Volunteer mobile app to check in and out. Use the mobile app if your organization uses Geo-Location Tracking, which tells you whether volunteers check in from the appropriate area. You can enable Geo-Location Tracking in the Attendance Settings for each opportunity.

Plan How to Use the Attendance Kiosk

You can use the Attendance Kiosk in different ways. For example, you could do either or both of the following:

  • Set up check-in stations. At events or onsite at ongoing programs, require volunteers to stop at a check-in station before they enter. Place a computer or tablet at this station and open the Attendance Kiosk (kiosk.bloomerang.co) on it.

  • Ask volunteers to check in on their mobile device. Print the Attendance Kiosk QR code and post it at your event or onsite location. Or, email the Attendance Kiosk link (kiosk.bloomerang.co) to volunteers. To access the Attendance Kiosk, volunteers use their personal mobile phone to scan the QR code or tap the link in your email message.

Read about how to share the QR code and link.

Tip: Onsite managers can also use the Attendance Kiosk to quickly check volunteers in and out. Managers only have to enter the volunteer's email address to see check-in and check-out options for the volunteer.

Enable Permissions for Self Check-In/Out

To allow volunteers to check themselves in and out, you must enable these attendance settings:

  • General Attendance or Shift Attendance — Controls whether volunteers check in for an opportunity or specific shifts

  • Self check-in/check-out — Allows volunteers to check themselves in and out

Read about how to enable these settings.

Volunteers Check In

To check in through the Attendance Kiosk, volunteers can:

  • Go to your check-in station.

  • Use the QR code or link (kiosk.bloomerang.co) to open the Attendance Kiosk on their personal mobile phone. Your QR code is the same for all of your organizations, opportunities, and shifts, and it never expires.

Volunteers see the Attendance Kiosk login page.

Volunteers enter their email and click or tap Log In. The email address can be associated with a claimed or unclaimed account. Volunteers don't enter a password to log in, which means they can log in quickly.

After logging in, volunteers see one of the following:

  • Shifts — If you enable Shift Check-In, volunteers see only the shifts they're scheduled for that day. If no shifts appear, the volunteer isn't scheduled. You must add the volunteer to the shift or the volunteer must sign up to the shift to check in.

  • Opportunity — If you enable General Check-in, volunteers see the opportunity name instead of shifts. The opportunity appears only if the volunteer signs in to the kiosk on or between the opportunity’s Start Date and End Date.

Volunteers click or tap Check-in. A confirmation page asks volunteers to confirm they meant to check in.

Volunteers see a message that check-in was successful, and they are automatically logged out. Automatic logout streamlines the checkout process so the next person can check in quickly.

Volunteers Check Out

At the end of the shift or day, volunteers use the Attendance Kiosk to log in again. They see the shift or opportunity they are currently logged in to.

To check out, volunteers click or tap Check-out. Volunteers see a message that check-out was successful, and they are automatically logged out.
