Sign Up for and Manage Qualifications

Qualifications are skill sets, traits, or certifications associated with a volunteer in Bloomerang Volunteer. Administrators can customize and assign qualifications. Or, volunteers can self-select their qualifications during the signup process for an organization or opportunity. 

When volunteers select qualifications during organization signup, those qualifications are saved to that organization and can be reused across multiple opportunities within that organization. Qualifications selected during opportunity signup are saved only for that opportunity and do not transfer to the user’s organization qualifications.

Sign Up for Qualifications

Whether volunteers can select their own qualifications depends on which signup settings the administrators have enabled. If the administrators did not enable the Qualifications step, they sometimes assign qualifications based on the volunteers’ form question responses and other profile information.

To select qualifications:

  1. If you are creating an account in Bloomerang Volunteer for the first time, read Create a Bloomerang Volunteer Account and follow the steps for organization or opportunity signup, as needed.
  2. If you already have a Bloomerang Volunteer account and are signing up for another organization or opportunity, follow the organization signup process or the opportunity signup process
  3. Answer all required form questions.
  4. Click Next Step.
  5. On the Qualifications step, select your qualifications. The selected qualifications appear in your overview for that organization or opportunity and determine which volunteer roles and shifts you are eligible for.

    Tip: We recommend selecting all qualifications that apply to your experience and skills.
  6. Click Next Step.
  7. You might also be asked to enter your roles and availability and sign up for shifts. Answer all required questions.

    Note: Managers sometimes link qualifications to roles in an opportunity. If you don’t select or have certain qualifications, certain roles might not appear for you to select. 
  8. Click Next.
    You are added to the organization or opportunity.
  9. To dismiss the confirmation message, click Go Home.

View Qualifications

View your qualifications for your organization or for a specific opportunity.

To view your qualifications:

  1. Open the public page for the organization or opportunity. 
  2. Click My Overview
  3. In the overview window, select My Qualifications. Your qualifications appear.
  4. For more information, click the information Information icon. symbol next to each qualification.

Edit or Remove Qualifications

To edit your previously selected qualifications, edit your signup for the organization or opportunity:

  1. Open the public page for the organization or opportunity.
  2. Click Edit or Edit Signup. You can now go back through the signup workflow for the organization or opportunity
  3. On the Qualifications step, change your qualifications by selecting or unselecting the qualification options. The qualifications no longer appear on your Bloomerang Volunteer profile.

    Note: If the Qualifications step has been disabled, or you do not see the qualification you want to remove, contact the organization or opportunity manager directly. 
  4. Click Next Step.
  5. To make sure the system saves your changes, complete all remaining steps. After you complete all the steps, a confirmation message appears. 
  6. Click Go Home. The system sends you back to the public page for the organization or opportunity you edited.
