How do I Register / Create a Group?

As a Manager:
Managers can create an unlimited amount of groups through the Groups Tab inside an Event. There are two different types of Groups that a Manager can create:

    • Account-based Group
An Account-based Group requires staff to have an Bloomerang Volunteer account in order to be a part of it. When an Event Manager creates an Account-based group, they will be prompted to input a custom Group Title and appoint a Group Leader to it. Managers cannot create duplicate Group Titles, but can edit or change the Group title.
    • Number-based Group
A Number-based Group is based on an arbitrary number of people being committed to the event. When an Event Manager creates a Number-based group, they will be prompted to input a custom Group Title, appoint a Group Leader to it, and input the total Group Size. Managers cannot create duplicate Group Titles, but can edit or change the Group title and the size of the group.

  • As a Staff Member:
If enabled by the Event Manager, Staff members are able to register and create one Group. There are two different types of groups that Staff can create:
    • Account-based Group
An Account-based Group is simply just a tag that is visible to other Staff members in the event for signup selection. Upon registration, Staff will be prompted to input a custom Group Title. Staff Members cannot edit or change the Group title.

This type of Group is ideal for larger groups that have their teams registering through Bloomerang Volunteer.

For example, Jenny and her basketball team are registering for an event. Jenny will create a group called The Lions Basketball Team that other members of the team will see and can select in the signup process.

    • Number-based Group

A Number-based Group is based on an arbitrary number of people being committed to the event and is not visible by other Staff members in the signup process. Upon registration, Staff will be prompted to input a custom Group Title and the total amount of Staff they are bringing with them (Staff can create a Number-based group up to 101 people in size). Staff cannot edit or change the Group Title or make changes to the size of their group.

This type of Group is ideal for friends and families who want to register under one account.

For example, Adam has committed to bringing a group of 75 volunteers to the disaster relief event. He does not know the names or emails of the people yet, but he’s committed to providing that number of people on event day.
