Manage Organization Language Settings

Bloomerang Volunteer is available in the following languages:

  • English
  • French
  • Dutch
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Italian

To switch between these languages, use the language drop-down list in Bloomerang Volunteer.

Most of the text in Bloomerang Volunteer is automatically translated into each of these languages. However, text that your organization adds is not automatically translated. At the organization level, this includes:

  • Qualifications
  • Tag categories
  • Tag names

You can customize the text for these fields on the Language Settings page.

Volunteers can also select their preferred custom field language. The preferred language is used if no custom text exists for a field in the primary language.

Language settings can also be customized at the opportunity level.

Edit Custom Field Text

After you add a language on the Language Settings page, you can add and modify text for each custom field in the language table shown here:

The language table contains text boxes for all of the text that you can edit in Bloomerang Volunteer, organized by language.

When you add a new custom field language to your organization, a column for that language appears in the language table. Click any text box in the table to begin editing. When you are finished, click Save Changes. To undo your changes, click Cancel All Changes. To delete the contents of all text boxes in a language column, hover your mouse over the column header and click X.

Tip: On PC or Mac, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts to navigate the language table:

  • Press Shift+Enter to move vertically.

Export Custom Field Text to a .CSV File

To export the contents of the language table to a comma-separated value (.CSV) file, click Export All Language Strings to .CSV.

To import language strings into your organization from a .CSV file, click Import Language Strings From .CSV.

The .CSV file contains columns for all of the languages that Bloomerang Volunteer supports, even if you have not added those languages on the Language Settings page. If you add text in the .CSV file for a language that has not been added to your organization, then import the .CSV file, Bloomerang automatically adds that language to your organization.

Note: When you open the .CSV file to edit it, open it with UTF-8 encoding to make sure that special characters display properly.
