Changes to Navigation and Admin Experience in Bloomerang Volunteer June 2025

As of June 26, 2025, Bloomerang Volunteer has an updated design and navigation to streamline tasks and make it easier to see whether you’re viewing the app as an administrator or a volunteer. There are new icons, colors, and functionalities in the admin view, and more streamlined processes for both volunteers and admins.

Most of the changes affect the admin view. Read the full list of changes in our changelog.

In this article:

Separate Login Pages

Admins and volunteers now have different login pages to make it easier to understand which view you’re opening. Admins now log in at https://volunteer.bloomerang.co/admin/#/. Your organization’s volunteers will continue to use their existing login link.

The admin login page no longer has a Create Account button.

Notifications

Bell notifications now appear only in the context of your current view. Admin notifications only appear in the admin view, and volunteer notifications only appear in the volunteer view.

Switch Between Admin and Volunteer Views

Users with both an admin and a volunteer account now have a shortcut to switch between the admin and volunteer views more easily. For example, you can switch between views from the login page before you log in.

If you’re already logged in to one of your accounts, you can switch views by clicking your Profile icon and selecting Switch to Volunteer View or Switch to Manager View.

Note: Administrators can always access the volunteer view. Volunteers who don’t have admin accounts do not see the Switch to Manager View option.

New Admin Navigation Bar

The admin view has a new navigation bar to better help you find what you need. The navigation bar design now appears in all Bloomerang apps to give you a more consistent experience across Bloomerang products.

Note: The new navigation bar only appears for administrators. Volunteers have the same navigation bar that they are used to.

Admin-Focused Navigation

While in the admin view, you can focus on your administrative tasks. Volunteer-based pages such as My Opportunities and My Shifts no longer appear in the navigation bar or Profile menu.

Switch Between Bloomerang Apps

A new Apps icon helps you to access Bloomerang CRM and Qgiv directly from Bloomerang Volunteer without opening separate login pages for each product. Click Apps and then select Bloomerang CRM or Qgiv to open the login page for the product you’re opening.

Help Menu

The Help menu no longer appears in the Profile menu but rather on the main navigation menu for easier access. It also includes more resources such as Feature Suggestions, Refer a Friend, and Product Updates.

Admin Home Page

Admins no longer have the same home page as volunteers. Organization managers land on the Overview page for their organization. Other admins land on the Opportunities page for their organization.

If you are in more than one organization, Bloomerang Volunteer automatically opens the home page for the last organization you visited or were added to most recently.

Switch Organizations

Admins who are in more than one organization can now easily switch between them by clicking Switch Organization in the side navigation.

Permissions-based Navigation

Going forward, admins and volunteers will only have access to the tasks they can do based on their permission level. For example, the Create Opportunity button is disabled for admins without opportunity creation permissions.

Note: If you are in more than one admin role for an opportunity, you access that opportunity with the highest permission level you have for that opportunity.

FAQ

Why am I no longer able to access the Opportunities page as an admin?

You may be logged in to the volunteer view. With the new update, admins and volunteers now have separate views in Bloomerang Volunteer to make navigation easier and more streamlined.

To access the Opportunities page, click Switch to Admin View from your Profile menu and log in with your credentials. Use the same credentials for both the admin and volunteer views. When you're back in the admin view, you’ll see all your usual admin tools and options.

Will volunteers need new login credentials or URLs?

No. Volunteers continue to use the same URL and login credentials they had before.

How do I (as an admin) switch to the volunteer experience?

Seeing the volunteer experience can be helpful for administrators who are also volunteers or who want to understand the experience of their volunteers.

You can switch to the volunteer view by clicking Switch to Volunteer View from the admin login page or from the profile menu in your admin account.

Can volunteers access the admin view?

Volunteers can only access the admin view if they have admin permissions. Volunteers with both admin and volunteer accounts can switch to the volunteer view by clicking Switch to Admin View from the volunteer login page or from the profile menu in your volunteer account.

What changes do volunteers see in their interface?

Volunteers now see a simpler and more efficient experience focused on self-scheduling and logging hours.

What are Split Notifications and how do they work?

To keep organizations organized, bell notifications are now filtered by view. If you're in the admin view, you only see admin-related notifications. If you're in the volunteer view, you only see volunteer-related notifications.

Do I need to take any action to activate these changes?

No action is required. The updates became active automatically.

Can I customize the volunteer view for my organization?

At this time, the layout and functionality of the volunteer view are standardized for consistency and ease of use.
